Marjoram

Marjoram

A close cousin of Oregano with a sweet, slightly spicy flavour. Use with grilled foods, tomato, poultry and fish dishes.

Marjoram is a member of the mint family, sometimes mistaken for oregano, although they are not the same plant. Marjoram is native to the Mediterranean area but today, we get our supply mostly from the United States and France. The Greeks and Romans considered marjoram a symbol of happiness. Now it's mostly used as a flavouring for meat dishes. It has a delicate, sweet, pleasant flavour with a slightly bitter undertone. Its taste and fragrance make it popular with a wide variety of foods, including lamb, beef, veal, soups and stews. It teams well with parsley, dill, basil or thyme.

Available in 25g jar.
