Kala Namak (Black Salt)
It is a purplish brown coloured rock salt, with a distinctive flavor. A special type of Indian mineral salt and has a very special smokey flavour. The major use of this "spice" is to impart the special characteristic flavor to the tangy fresh salads called Chaats.
It is used very frequently in India as a condiment. It is also used in many spice mix's (chat masala) and can be used in any spice mixture as a substitute to regular salt.
Kala Namak also helps in indigestion and softens the bowel.
